Uncompromising Quality

Design Philosophy

The guiding principles for Denjo Dogs’ products are function, stylish design and sustainability. The goal is to create dog accessories that make life easier and more enjoyable for dogs, for many years to come. We do this by developing functional, high-quality dog accessories that last a long time, that have a timeless, stylish design and that are produced with sustainable production methods and material choices that are gentle on our planet.

Materials

Denjo Dogs’ products should be safe to use, long-lasting and produced in an ethical and gentle manner towards both the environment and people. That is why we place great importance on finding the right suppliers and materials. The materials we use for our products are carefully selected based on parameters that include:

  • Technical properties such as durability, material composition  and Martindale
  • Where and how the materials are produced. All Denjo Dog products are manufactured in Europe, primarily Italy and the Nordic countries. The materials are also sourced from European producers.
  • Environmental labels/Certifications
  • All materials we use in our products comply with the REACH regulation (the EU’s common chemicals legislation).

On each product page there is information about where the product is produced, what materials the product consists of, as well as whether the materials have any labels/certifications.

Definitions of various certifications that can be found in some of our products:

BCI (Better Cotton Initiative) – an initiative that supports more sustainable cotton production.

OEKO-TEX® – A STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certification means that the product meets high human environmental requirements. I.e. it does not contain chemicals in levels that are harmful to health.

Pelle Conciata al Vegetale – a quality seal for leather issued by The Genuine Italian Vegetable Tanned Leather Consortium, whose task is to regulate, protect and guarantee that the production of Tuscan vegetable tanned leather is done correctly.

Vegetable-Tanned Leather

Vegetable-tanned leather is a durable material that stands the test of time, ages beautifully, and is also biodegradable—qualities we consider important from a sustainability perspective.

The leather we use for our own leather products comes from a small tannery based in northern Italy that exclusively works with vegetable-tanned leather. The tannery is part of a small network consisting of a few Italian tanneries, all operating under quality guidelines established by a consortium called Pelle Conciata Al Vegetale In Toscana. This consortium’s role is to regulate, protect, and guarantee that the production of Tuscan vegetable-tanned leather is conducted properly.

The tanneries in the network follow the guidelines below and are awarded the Pelle Conciata al Vegetale quality seal, which certifies the traceability of the leather’s origin, ensures that the tanning process has been carried out correctly, and preserves the natural characteristics of vegetable-tanned leather.

Leather marked with the Pelle Conciata al Vegetale quality seal guarantees the following:

  • All leather is vegetable-tanned, and the tanning agents used to treat the leather come exclusively from natural sources such as  chestnut and oak bark.
  • No toxic substances such as azo dyes, nickel, PCP, or chromium are used in the tanning process.
  • The hides used and processed are by-products of the food industry, meaning that no animals are bred and slaughtered solely for their skins.
  • The leather is traceable, allowing for verification of its origin (the leather comes from the EU, primarily France, Sweden, and Switzerland).
  • Modern systems and working methods for various types of recycling are in place, and many of the substances used in the tanning process are recovered and reused.

Denjo Dogs Quality Guarantee

Denjo Dogs products are designed to last for many years. That is why we offer a quality guarantee where we repair or replace with a new product in the event the product does not meet the standard based on normal wear and tear.

However, we would like to highlight that even quality products require proper care, such as not exposing the products to excessive amounts of water or too much sunlight. Leather products also require lubricating regularly. Just in the same way that you take care of a pair of leather shoes or a saddle for your horse.

My goal in life is to be as good of a person my dog already thinks I am.
